We had Thanksgiving yesterday... Brought SB and her mum to my Aunt's (I rarely spend Turkey Day with either parent because my parents are divorced and my dad rarely shows up to Turkey Day at his sister's) and what really struck me, or what is continually striking me throughout this visit, is how much this doesn't feel like home anymore. I mean it is great to see everyone, I really really miss hanging with my fam and the Stanbrooks (and I love how naturally I just become reincorporated into them)... but I think of myself as living in London now... which is so weird.. And part of me just wants to be home...

The tangentially connected part of that feeling is that, as much as SB was worried I would come home and not want to leave (thus not want to marry her), being here with her is making me love her more everyday...

Of course I wish she was awake so I could tell her that... or I wasn't awake so I would be getting sleep... but my cat, as much as I love him, woke me up at 5:30... when I was finally getting back to a normal sleeping pattern of waking at 8...




Wedding in 7 days 22 hours!  And there isn't a smile apt enough for how that makes me feel. : )

I just listened to (am listening to) the Obama/McCain debate via youtube (thank you CSPAN)... I love the fact that McCain makes everything about spending... Obama comes up with new ideas but McCain is like 'this will be cured by cutting down on porkbarrel spending, which I've done you know!'  lol... ridiculous...   (Watch it all here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-nNIEduEOw)

I started listening the the VP debates the other day (here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89FbCPzAsRA).. I am so glad Palin sounds like an idiot...  Will get back to those but I figured I listening to the Presidential ones would make more sense...

McCain doesn't sound like an idiot but he is really redundant.. My favorite quote from Obama is when he responds to McCain's 5th or 6th repetition of his record as a person who cuts out spending saying something like 'McCain has supported George Bush who has allowed this Orgy of Spending'... Orgy of Spending just amused me...

They're on to the war... Joy. 

So after much fuss with CSS I have what I wanted... something that WASN'T A Novel Conundrum but that was boxless and let me have an image (the inverse of the previous one cause I wanted to lighten things up without too much image creation hassle on my behalf).... I haven't figured out how to be rid of the flower image but I will be doing so as soon as I can...

My dissertation is so almost done I can taste it... problem is, I should probably look it over again... but I'm not gonna! Now how do you summarize 20,000 + words whose purpose is confusion and confounding of ideas without talking yourself in simplistic circles?

The only way to get it now seems to be Itunes... which is problematic for my overseas brethren (I have a US address and thus a US Itunes account)... but I guess they're trying to fix that... and a DVD out before christmas... I want a soundtrack! but they don't seem to have those out yet either... oh well... anyway... if you're in the states go!  If you're overseas remember to go later!  You can get all three 13-15 min eps for $3.99...

Ok  SB so you beat me by twenty but Lord of the Rings should be THREE movies (and I've seen a collective amount of about 40 times... usually the extended...  half for fun and half for undergrad thesis... which would explain why I lack movie time... lol) of course I also had a tendency to get really random movies.. And you may notice that I had seen all but one before I met you! : p

Ok, done trying to legitimate my (admittedly poor) movie-seeing experience...

Thought any Dr Who/ Torchwood fans might find this amusing... I was in Cardiff last week (touristing my fam)  and came upon this:

Needless to say I was shocked.. and my fam just stared at me like I'm crazy (My mom thought I kept saying 'Torture Tower')

Turns out Cardiff is just advertisting Cardiff Festival but I keep thinking how fruity (ha! pun!) that looks for the base of a secret agency...

So I have a conundrum.





In a happier aside.... Happy Birthday totiah15!!  *Hugs!*  You are officially older than me for another 3 weeks... ; )

And thank you projectjuliefor your diss draft reminding me of the possibilities of Sedgwick  (super helpful since it is one of the few books I can get a hold of right now)  Oh academia how I love/hate you!

Not because I've started watching SG1... which I will never entirely love because I blame it for canceling Farscape : ( ... but because Stargate (or at least Amanda Tapping) fans are AWESOME!

So Virtual Hug to my new friends tiah15  , hera2511  and chris4short  (although you're still at my flat so I can give you a real hug) and it was nice to see you again lockets24  and sammyjayne  and it was nice to meet you jenn_s  , kjaneway  , gateleaf  and ccgig  !!    If I've missed anyone I'm inept and I'm sorry! It was great to feel like a part of a group of friends again and no one was offended that I had barely seen SG-1...

Although speaking of musicals I saw the LotR one... Awesome set, the Ringwraiths were tre-cool... as were the Orcs and the song Lothlorien (Galadriel's voice was awesome) but it all felt too rushed... I'm not sure I'd get the emotional impact if I wasn't already familiar with the story... But of course they had to do that so it didn't turn out too bad considering...

After that long digression, Hello! I am still alive, I just don't procrastinate like I used to (only to occasionally update starbuck1980  's LJ since she actually used to post all the time, I never really did...)

Of course in 152 days I need to have a dissertation done. The less said about this the better really... It's on BSG and Cylons and right now Baudrillard (wasn't expecting him to sneak in quite so quickly) but I have no idea where it is going and I hope it isn't a bloody train wreck when I'm done...

Which I guess is actually quite a bit said...

We may have a flat (starbuck1980 and I) and join the ranks of U-Haul lesbians moving in together before their one year anniversary...

I may have a job... but that too has been touch and go for the past few days...

BSG!!! Oh how I miss you. But somehow the new season isn't as exciting for me... I have a feeling it is because my life is just inundating my brain and leaving little room left... or I just know it is going to be over.... Although I did enjoy watching it with lockets24  and hubby the other day... and the rest of the Cylons have numbers!! That bothered me so I'm glad they do now.. lol...

Doctor Who is good.. Catherine Tate isn't as bad as I thought (cool hair)... Martha is still way cooler though...

Saw the Christmas Special right before the new season... they beamed down on earth right in the center of Cardiff... in front of the church on the way to Cardiff Market... I had way fun squeeing over that... and the fact the ship mate guy's name was Alonso... the Doctor saying Allonz-y is something I have unnecessary amounts of fun with...

Torchwood is also tre-awesome... starbuck found a pic of Gwen/Eve Myles with a I <3 CF shirt... once we found out CF stood for Cardiff I totally wanted to get one.. because I love Cardiff and I love that it is a takeoff/repudiation of the I <3 NY that is everywhere...

Also totally random but way awesome?





And my fiancee read me "Not Now Bernard" by David McKee the other day.. which is a British Classic I guess... it is awesome.. a kids book but I totally recommend it if you've never read it.. it'll take like a minute to read but it is quite cool... I made a few icons and a mood theme.... yes it is that cool.. lol  or I'm really that much of a loser.   But you'll have to read it to see... ; p
